GEINS’T NAÏT & L.PETITGAND

Geins’t Naït et Laurent Petitgand sont des militants musicaux depuis plus de 30 ans. Il est cependant utile de préciser que les deux musiciens viennent d’horizons très différents. Geins’t Naït est l’auteur de collages industriels dans la lignée des premiers travaux d’Einstürzende Neubauten ou de Throbbing Gristle tandis que Laurent Petitgand est surtout connu pour ses nombreuses contributions aux films de Wim Wenders, dont le dernier, Le Sel de la Terre, a reçu 3 prix au festival de Cannes (sélection Un Certain Regard). Deux registres apparemment opposés donc mais qui se rejoignent ici par leur volonté d’échapper à toute forme d’académisme.

Geins’t Naït and Laurent Petitgand have been musical activists for over 30 years. However it is useful to point out that the two musicians come from very different backgrounds. Geins’t Naït is the creator of industrial collages in a similar vein to the early work of Einstürzende Neubauten or Throbbing Gristle while Laurent Petitgand is best known for his many contributions to the films of Wim Wenders, the last of which, The Salt of The Earth, received 3 awards at the Cannes film festival (Un Certain Regard selection). Two seemingly opposing registers then but which are united here by their desire to escape from all forms of academism.
