Si les genres Intelligent Dance Music (IDM) et Berlin School semblent être les plus évidents pour présenter David Chalmin, ils ne suffisent pas à décrire la variété de cette musique qui contient également des inspirations industrielles ou classiques. Une chose est sûre cependant, David Chalmin peut fièrement placer son premier album solo aux côtés de Jon Hopkins, Pantha du Prince ou Andy Stott, pour son approche contemporaine de la musique de dancefloor.
