“His experiments have enabled him to transmute his anger into an invigorating fuel: rough, urban, flammable rock.” (Le Monde)
“For thirty years, Michel Cloup has been developing a musical language that is unfailingly demanding and unvarnished in its sincerity, through a variety of projects.” (Les Inrockuptibles)
“Album after album, Michel Cloup makes his own mark on the French rock landscape.” (Politis)
“It’s a musical conflagration, no, a cluster bomb whose every track pierces the armor of an era’s hypocrisy and demagoguery.” (Soul Kitchen)
MICHEL CLOUP

Michel Cloup, singer-guitarist and founder of Diabologum, one of the most important French rock bands of the 90s, launched Michel Cloup Duo in the early 2010s. Using effects pedals and orchestrated solitude, he layers harmonic and melodic lines, saturation and limpid arpeggios, stubborn riffs and indecisive explorations. His lyrics are interpreted by a voice that oscillates between speaking and singing. Drummer Julien Rufié (Patrice Cartier’s successor) is the anchor, cardinal point of the “Ici et là-bas” album (2016).
