Founded in 1997 by Stéphane Grégoire in Nancy, Ici, d’ailleurs grew out of the Sine Terra Firma association label. With an eclectic and daring editorial line, the label quickly made a name for itself thanks to the success of Yann Tiersen’s first albums, notably Le Phare (1998), and his collaboration with the film Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain.
The label stands out for its ability to transcend genres, mixing post-rock, indie pop, folk, experimental and neo-classical music. Since the 2000s, Ici, d’ailleurs has structured its activity around sub-collections: OuMuPo explores creation under constraint with remixes and comics, 0101 focuses on electronic music, and Mind Travels moves towards ambient and avant-garde.
In parallel, Ici, d’ailleurs has initiated iconic projects such as This Immortal Coil, and also offers reissues with More Over, highlighting New Wave and post-punk treasures. With over 25 years in business and more than 200 titles to its name, the label continues to produce audacious works, while retaining its independence.
