Thierry Merrigout and Vincent Hachet both former pupils of ”L’école D’architecture de Nancy” set up Geins’t Näit in 1986. Between 1986 and 1993 six albums will be published with the collaboration of Permis de Construire and PDCD labels. GN’s music inspired by the post industrial scene has often been considered as being strongly influenced by surrealists and situationists.
If Vincent Hachet distances himself quickly from this musical project, Thierry Merrigout who was the drummer for KAS Product during the first tour of the mythical duet in 1981, intends to continue on this track. To reach his aim, he succeeded in collaborating with many others musicians and among them Laurent Petitgand who participated in the writing of album’s titles ”Lorn Cät” in 1987 and Fishes in 1989.
Laurent Petitgand who created his own group ”Dick Tracy” in 80s, composed his first theme music in 1985 on the behalf of Wim Wenders : ”Tockyo Ga”. He is also the composer of the last theme music of Paul Auster ”La vie intérieure de Martin Prost” in 2006, published by Naïve. Besides songs writing, he composes titles devoted to the dance and the theater for ”Angelin Preljocaj , Liqueurs de chair and Amer America”. He has also made some arrangings for Christophe not to mention ””les grands voyageurs” he wrote for Alain Bashung.
In 2009 Thierry Merrigout with the support of Laurent Petitgand, his very old friend, intended to recreate the GN by producing his new album « Si j’avais su j’aurais rien dit ». 25 years after the release of GN, the polyphonic and multi-rythmical structure remains always intact as well as the heavy melody.
